Video Game Soundtrack - Dead Pixel
|
For the class Audio Creative Lab, my team and I created original sound effects and soundtrack for a game called Dead Pixel, produced by the University of Wisconsin - Stout. This is a 2-D top down shooter style game, set in the future with a cyberpunk aesthetic. I thought this would be a really interesting project from a sound design perspective and jumped on composing the soundtrack. The difficulty in this composition was a feature of the game; dynamic musical intensity relative to your enemy detection level. This required the creation of three variations of the main theme that could seamlessly morph in and out of each other. To achieve this, I would stack on more instruments and broaden the effective frequency range. Additionally, I automated synthesizer parameters to develop the original sound.
Other soundtrack elements in the game involve elevator music and a vending machine theme; both were very fun to work on. The elevator music is a Synthwave remix of a Lo-Fi project file I had lying around. The vending machine track was made from the vending machine sound effects my team made earlier on. Sound Design for Film - Cowboy Bebop: Ballad of Fallen Angels
Sound Design for Film - Robot

This project is a personal favorite. The task was simply to design sound for the given video. My team and I wanted the most consistent production, so we decided to record Foley in an improvised dorm studio. A majority of the used sound clips were original recordings. The songs featured in the video were written and produced by myself.

Jet of Blood
|
This was the most involved project of my first year. The goal was to design audio for a virtual reality game called Jet of Blood, being developed by the Rochester Institute of Technology. The game is based off the play by Antonin Artaud. This experience showed me the joys of releasing your creativity, but also the difficulties of remote collaboration.
